China is the only country that has more medals than the United States in the 2012 London Olympic games.
Currently, China has 48 medals to our 47 medals.
But, uncharacteristically China is second place to the United States in the gold medal race, with 22 while we have 24. Of our 47 medals, 28 have come from the pool, with the most decorated Olympian in history Michael Phelps leading the way with an involvement in 5 of the medals. The first African-American to win all-around gymnastics, Gabrielle Douglas, contributes with her historic Gold medal.
